Hola! Hola Deaf Community!
(Hola comunidad de los sordos)
My name is Rossy, and I am an advocate at DEAF, Inc.
DEAF, Inc. wants to recognize and to celebrate Hispanic/Latine Heritage Cultural Month, happening from September 15th to October 15th. I identify as a Hard of Hearing Latina, born in Dominican Republics, and moved here in MA when I was young. I can speak, read, and write in Spanish.
What I am proud about being Dominican, is that no matter what kind of situation or barrier, we always find a way to gather as a family together.
How do I celebrate my culture?
Gather with my family to cook Dominican food,
Share family history and stories at school
Be with family for the holiday celebrations
We show the flag and what are the color representations of it. What I love about my culture? Family, holidays, food, and dance!
My favorite Dominican food is rice, beans and goat stew. (arroz, habichuela y chivo)
My favorite cultural dance is called Bachata!
Happy Latine/Hispanic Heritage Cultural Month!
