Details: This position is part of a team of ASL Instructors teaching various groups interested in learning American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf Culture virtually or in-person in Massachusetts. The hours are determined based on assignments given by the ASL Program Director.
Required Qualifications
- Native or near-native ASL signer
- Knowledgeable about Deaf culture
- Have your equipment and working knowledge of technology including Zoom
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years experience in teaching ASL
- Familiar using the Signing Naturally, TRUE+WAY ASL, and/or ASL at Work curriculums
- Knowledgeable about working with learners from diverse educational, cultural and language backgrounds
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a session of ASL instruction virtually or in-person either at a DEAF, Inc. office or at a different location
- Prepare for instruction before each class
- Communicate with learners class updates
- Responsible for opening the space just before and closing after class times
- Track attendance of learners
- Report to supervisor with concerns or issues from within the classes
- Attend ASL Instructor briefings
- Meet with supervisor at least once per session
